G’bal: Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, on Monday visited the Kangan area of Ganderbal district and inaugurated the commencement of four road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), aimed at improving connectivity in remote habitations.
The projects, approved and funded by the Government of India, are expected to provide all-weather road access to several villages that have long faced transportation challenges. Talking to reporters MP said that improved road connectivity is essential for access to healthcare, education and markets, and urged the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of the works. He also thanked the concerned officers for facilitating the approval and funding of the projects, while stressing the need for quality construction and transparency in implementation. During interactions with local residents, Aga Ruhullah raised concerns over the recent hike in electricity charges, particularly its impact on economically weaker sections, including families falling under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
