Srinagar : Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, State Secretary of the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, has issued a strong rebuttal to the statements made by National Conference (NC) Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq regarding the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME).
Khanday slammed the NC spokesperson’s allegations that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was “ruining the careers of students” by influencing the National Medical Commission’s (NMC) decision to withdraw the institute’s recognition.
Khanday termed Sadiq’s statement as “inappropriate and a reflection of the National Conference’s political weakness.” He emphasized that the NMC’s decision was based on a surprise inspection that revealed significant deficiencies in:
Infrastructure: Substandard lecture theatres and lack of research laboratories.
Staffing: A 39% deficiency in teaching faculty and a 65% shortfall in tutors and residents.
Clinical Standards: Low bed occupancy (45%) and outpatient attendance below 50% of the required norms.
