Hospital debuts Masood Hussain art to honor regional heritage

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday unveiled the 2026 calendar of Paras Health Srinagar, marking an initiative that underscores the evolving role of healthcare institutions beyond clinical care to include community engagement and social wellbeing. The calendar features original artworks by acclaimed Kashmiri artist Masood Hussain, portraying Srinagar’s cultural and architectural heritage.

The calendar launched by Paras Health Srinagar showcases visual narratives of Mughal gardens, traditional wooden architecture, Dal Lake, shikaras, and daily life in Downtown Srinagar. This initiative aims to integrate regional identity and cultural familiarity into the hospital environment, reflecting a holistic approach to healthcare delivery. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the importance of healthcare institutions engaging with their communities beyond mere infrastructure and medical outcomes. He noted that recognizing local culture and supporting regional talent fosters patient trust, emotional comfort, and a sense of belonging, which are essential for recovery and overall well-being. Dr. Murtuza Habib, Facility Director at Paras Health Srinagar, highlighted the connection between healthcare outcomes and the emotional and psychological environments of patients. He stated that hospitals should be spaces that reflect familiarity and shared identity, which is crucial for compassionate care. Collabor
