Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested an accused involved in a bakery shop theft case and also recovered stolen cash from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that Police Station Sopore received a complaint from the owner of Cake Villa, a bakery shop in Shah Faisal Market, regarding a theft that took place during the night. The thief broke a window to gain entry, stealing cash and bakery items. Following the complaint, a case was registered under FIR No. 05/2026, and an investigation commenced. During the investigation, police identified the suspect as Shakir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Sir Syed Colony, Sopore. Despite his attempts to evade arrest, he was apprehended after persistent efforts by law enforcement. Upon questioning, Bhat confessed his involvement inthe theft and led police to the recovery of the stolen cash. Additionally, he admitted to attempting to break into several other shops in the main market area and acknowledged consuming some of the stolen bakery items.
