Srinagar : Director Colleges J&K ,Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir on Friday chaired a marathon meeting of Principals of all Government Degree Colleges of Jammu Division to reinforce academic discipline, student support systems and governance in alignment with the Mission and Vision of the Department. Dr. Ravinder Tickoo, Nodal Principal, Jammu Division Colleges, initiated the proceedings and apprised the gathering regarding the core objectives and agenda of the meeting. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the host institution, GGM Science College Jammu, extended a warm welcome and introduced the newly appointed Principals.
Addressing the gathering Director Colleges highlighted the importance of unified institutional alignment, operational excellence, and prioritizing student welfare. A comprehensive review of the Department’s digital governance initiatives highlighted the Planning & Development Portal as a crucial tool for real-time reporting and accountability, facilitating various online services such as Passport NOCs and PhD approvals. The implementation of need-based Academic Arrangements has notably improved operational efficiency and transparency, with an emphasis on maintaining accurate data for evidence-based planning. Institutional development initiatives were also discussed, including the establishment of Institutional Innovation Councils in 79 colleges, the expansion of eYantra Labs in collaboration with IIT Bombay, and the introduction of SWAYAM Local Chapters to enhance digital learning. On the topic of student welfare, the meeting focused on strengthening the Mentor–Mentee Programme and the Pyramidal Sports and Co-curricular Model to foster inclusive participation and talent development. The framework for addressing substance abuse was outlined, emphasizing preventive measures and institutional support. The SIGMA – Student Integrated Grievance and Messaging Application Portal was reviewed, with a call for increased student registration and effective use. A significant announcement was made regarding the upcoming SCALE initiative, aimed at providing structured guidance on academic progression and career planning in every Government Degree College. Developmental works across colleges were assessed, with a recommendation for regular monitoring and coordination with executing agencies. Looking ahead, the focus will be on academic discipline, the availability of comprehensive timetables, systematic maintenance of academic records, and readiness for audits.
