Srinagar: The Food Safety Department has prohibited the sale, storage and distribution of Raisins packed by Winsome Foods, Rainawari, after tests by the National Food Testing Laboratory, Ghaziabad, found pesticide levels exceeding safety limits. The retailers and wholesalers have been directed to halt sales immediately and submit stock details within three days.
The Food Safety Srinagar Food Safety officer for Zone III District Srinagar has issued a prohibition order regarding the sale, storage, and distribution of raisins packed by Winsome Foods, Rainawari Srinagar, due to safety concerns. The product, identified by registration number 21018411000588 and batch number WRN10, was found to contain pesticide residues of Benomyl and Carbendazim above permissible limits, as confirmed by the National Food Testing Laboratory in Ghaziabad. Effective immediately, all food business operators, wholesalers, and retailers in District Srinagar are required to cease the sale and distribution of this product. They must also report their stock status of the affected batch to the Food Safety office within three days. The order is issued under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, emphasizing public health interests. Additionally, the authorities retain the right to conduct re-analysis of the product through any FSSAI-notified laboratory as stipulated by the Act.
