Pulwama: Police in Pulwama have announced a temporary restriction on the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services across the district, effective immediately, following directives from the District Magistrate.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that the action is a preventive measure aimed at ensuring public safety, enhancing cyber security, and maintaining law and order. The authorities are concerned about the potential misuse of VPN services that could obstruct lawful monitoring and compromise security. Police has appealed people to comply fully with these restrictions and refrain from using VPN services on all digital devices during this period, adding therein that violations of these directives will result in strict legal action under applicable laws. Police have also called for the cooperation of all residents to help uphold peace, security, and the public interest in the district.
