Awantipora: Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology, Islamic University of Science and Technology, observed World AIDS Day 2025 in line with the global theme “Overcoming Disruptions, Transforming the AIDS Response.” The programme focused on raising awareness, promoting prevention strategies, and fostering informed dialogue on HIV/AIDS among students and faculty.
A series of academic and awareness-based activities were conducted to commemorate the day, focusing on various aspects of HIV/AIDS. These activities included poster presentations, group discussions, and debates that addressed modes of transmission, prevention strategies, and the myths and facts surrounding HIV/AIDS. Emphasis was placed on the importance of empathy and social support for individuals living with the virus. The discussions also tackled contemporary challenges in HIV/AIDS control, including stigma reduction and the vital role of healthcare professionals in enhancing the AIDS response. The program concluded with a collective message underscoring the significance of awareness, early detection, prevention, and shared responsibility in the fight against HIV/AIDS. This initiative highlighted the role of students as future healthcare professionals in fostering a healthy and informed society.
