‘Dismissed teachers were working as OGWs of LeT; radicalizing youth, acting as conduits to spread terrorism’
Srinagar: Reaffirming the Government ‘s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism ieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday terminated two government employees linked to terrorist activities under Article 311 of the Indian Constitution.
The dismissed individuals are Ghulam Hussain, a teacher accused of acting as an Over Ground Worker (OGW) for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Majid Iqbal Dar, a teacher involved in narco-terrorism and radicalization efforts. Ghulam Hussain, who was appointed as a Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher in 2004 and regularized in 2009, was found to have maintained connections with LeT terrorists and facilitated recruitment and funding for terrorist activities in the Reasi district. Investigations revealed that he was in contact with LeT operatives through encrypted messaging and was involved in delivering financial support to families of terrorists, thereby contributing to the terror network. His actions were deemed a significant threat to the safety of children and the integrity of the education system. Majid Iqbal Dar, initially appointed as a lab assistant in 2009 and promoted to teacher in 2019, was also identified as an OGW for LeT. He was implicated in radicalizing youth and financing terrorism through drug money. His involvement came to light following the recovery of an IED linked to him and other terrorists, which was planted under the direction of a handler based in Pakistan. Despite being detained, Dar reportedly continued to exhibit radical tendencies. The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the importance of dismantling the terror ecosystem and maintaining a robust approach against terrorism, including both kinetic and non-kinetic operations. His administration’s strategy focuses on combating OGWs and narco-terrorism while promoting inclusive development to ensure peace and economic revival in the region.
