Says ‘Centre must fulfil statehood promise”
“Cabinet Green lights CSC reservation report, LG Approval Next “
“Expecting flood relief package from the centre’

Srinagar : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the National Conference (NC) government has performed to the best of its ability under the challenging circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu marking the government’s first year in office, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of public satisfaction with the government’s performance, stating that true judgment will come after five years through the electoral process. He acknowledged the challenges faced but expressed confidence in improving future outcomes. The government has made progress in fulfilling its promises, including the regularization of daily wage workers, with 860 individuals from the Education Department recently regularized. The Chief Minister highlighted the unique challenges of governing in a Union Territory and reiterated the commitment to fight for the restoration of statehood, appealing to national leaders to honor previous commitments made to the people. He stressed that the resolution of various issues is contingent upon restoring statehood and expressed hope for peaceful negotiations rather than confrontational tactics. On the topic of reservations, the Chief Minister announced that a final report from the Cabinet Sub-Committee has been approved, with actions expected to follow shortly. He confirmed the ongoing alliance with the Congress party, indicating collaborative efforts for upcoming elections and by-elections. In response to the recent floods in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister outlined the government’s response through relief funds and the expectation of a comprehensive package from the Centre to address extensive damage to infrastructure and homes. He assured that assistance would be provided to those who lost their properties, including land grants for reconstruction. The Chief Minister acknowledged the critical role of bureaucrats in the government’s functioning while noting variability in their willingness to work. He also addressed political dynamics, particularly regarding support from the People’s Democratic Party in upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for unity against the BJP to avoid inadvertently aiding their cause.
