Global Annual Alumni Meet – SANGAM 2025 (Students Alumni Networking for Growth, Aspiration, and Monitoring) was held on 10–11 October 2025 at NIT Srinagar. This flagship event celebrated the enduring legacy of our alumni, strengthened their connection with their alma mater, and opened new avenues for collaboration between industry, academia, and government institutions. With active participation from alumni in leadership positions across diverse sectors, along with faculty and students, the meet served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, mentorship, and networking. As alumni shared their journeys and experiences, they rekindled cherished memories and inspired new aspirations. At NIT Srinagar, we firmly believe that strong alumni relations are vital to institutional growth, leading to scholarships, partnerships, and sustained support for generations to come. For the first time in the history of alumni meets, the Office of Dean Alumni & International Affairs introduced a set of purpose-driven initiatives aimed at transforming alumni engagement from a ceremonial reunion into a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and societal impact.

SANGAM 2025 was more than just an event—it was a collective pledge to nurture the intellectual, professional, and emotional bonds that define NIT Srinagar. We look forward to making SANGAM 2026 and beyond even more memorable and impactful.A highlight of the event was the felicitation of Mr. Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman, Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), who was conferred with the Green Ambassador of Kashmir 2025 Award by Prof. Ravinder Nath, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir. The award recognized his outstanding contribution to environmental conservation under Mission Ehsaas, underscoring NIT Srinagar’s commitment to honouring champions of ecological preservation and sustainable development.

Reflections From Alumni, Delegates

  1. Rashid Ahmed Fani (Batch of 1977) – Poet, Philosopher: SANGAM 2025 was not merely an event—it was an emotion rekindled, a reunion of hearts bound by shared memories and an enduring love for NIT Srinagar. The two-day celebration brought together achievers, dreamers, and well-wishers from across the country to reconnect, relive, and rejoice in the spirit of their alma mater. It was deeply moving to witness memories meet milestones and friendships from yesteryears blossom again in the same corridors where it all began.
  2. Malay Chatterjee : SANGAM 2025 has been a resounding success, bringing together senior and recent alumni alike. The event was flawlessly organized under the leadership of Prof. M. A. Shah, Dean (Alumni & International Affairs), ably supported by his dynamic team—Dr. Harveer Singh Pali, Dr. Dinesh Rajendran, Dr. Fatima, and others. The contribution of Prof. Mohd Shafi and Er. Aamir Ali was equally commendable. Special appreciation goes to Ramesh Ramakrishnan (Batch of 1982) for successfully establishing the endowment fund. Congratulations to all for this outstanding convention—I urge more alumni to participate in future editions. Cheers and congratulations!
  3. Mir Muneer (Mechanical, Batch 1989–1994): It was a privilege to be part of the Global Alumni Meet at our beloved NIT Srinagar. I extend my sincere gratitude to Er. Aamir Ali, Prof. Mohd Shafi Mir, and Prof. (Dr.) M. A. Shah for their visionary leadership and tireless efforts. A special word of appreciation for Prof. Shah, whose humility and personal involvement touched every heart—his warmth, attentiveness, and even hands-on support made everyone feel valued. It was truly heartwarming to reconnect with batchmates, seniors, and juniors, and to relive the enduring REC spirit of togetherness and excellence.
  4. Irfan Shafi Parray : Heartfelt thanks to Ashraf Sir, Shafi Sir, Aamir Ali Sir, and all contributors who made the Alumni Meet a grand success. However, as highlighted by Shafi Sir, the modest attendance—barely 0.0003%—was disappointing, especially considering that nearly 70–80% of current faculty are alumni. This calls for introspection and renewed efforts to ensure broader participation in future meets. Let us work together to strengthen this bond further. Kudos to the organizing team for their commendable work!
  5. Balwant Singh (Batch 1981–1985): Respected guests, faculty members, fellow alumni, and dear friends, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee for inviting me to this momentous event. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I could not attend despite starting my journey from Guwahati on 9 October 2025. Nevertheless, I deeply appreciate the efforts of the committee in fostering meaningful connections among alumni and upholding the spirit of NIT Srinagar. I congratulate the organizers for their dedication and hospitality, and I wish SANGAM 2025 and its future editions great success.
  6. Ramesh Ramakrishnan (Chemical, Batch 1977): In the grand tapestry of SANGAM 2025, one thread shimmered with exceptional brilliance—the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) M. A. Shah, Dean (Alumni & International Affairs). His rare ability to connect deeply with both people and the spirit of the event transformed the convention into a living celebration of legacy, camaraderie, and vision. With his dynamic team—Dr. Harveer Singh Pali, Dr. Dinesh Rajendran, and Dr. Fatima—he orchestrated a symphony of excellence where every detail reflected care, and every moment echoed celebration. This visit to my alma mater after 45 years has been unforgettable; the warmth and hospitality have left an indelible impression. Though I am back in Mumbai, my heart remains with SANGAM and the spirit of NIT Srinagar.
  7. Samrah Shakeel’s Reflection: The Alumni Meet was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with everyone and celebrate our shared experiences. The event fostered meaningful interactions among alumni, faculty, and current students, highlighting the remarkable achievements of graduates and the steady growth of the institution. Inspiring speeches, engaging networking sessions, and vibrant cultural performances created a warm and nostalgic atmosphere. The meet not only strengthened alumni bonds but also opened new avenues for collaboration, mentorship, and community building. It offered all of us a moment to pause, reflect, and relive the cherished memories of our formative years. Each session during the meet had a clear purpose, addressing diverse aspects of professional and personal development. I felt deeply honoured to be invited as part of the Women’s Session, themed “Breaking the Glass Ceiling – Beyond Balance, Towards Brilliance.” The discussion was truly emancipating. Even as a panellist, I found myself learning immensely from the other experts, whose insights and lived experiences resonated deeply with me.

“SANGAM 2025 is a pivotal event for NIT Srinagar, highlighting the lasting bond with its worldwide alumni. The gathering moves beyond mere nostalgia, inspiring a renewed commitment from delegates towards collective growth, innovation, and sustained excellence for the institution. The event serves as a symbol of the enduring partnership between the college and its global community.”

  1. An Alumna’s Reflection: The success of SANGAM 2025 stands as a reflection of teamwork and shared passion. Under the able leadership of Prof. M. S. Mir (President) and Er. Aamir Ali (Vice President), the Alumni Association transformed vision into a living celebration. Equally inspiring was the contribution of Prof. (Dr.) M. A. Shah, Dean (Alumni & International Affairs), whose vision, energy, and humane leadership gave SANGAM 2025 its grace and soul. Even amid the demanding schedule, he showed remarkable empathy by allowing students to focus on their examinations—a gesture that reflected his compassion as much as his administrative excellence. Supported by Associate Dean Prof. (Dr.) H. S. Pali and a dedicated team, the event unfolded with warmth, precision, and purpose.
  2. Another Alumna Shared : SANGAM 2025 reaffirmed what NIT Srinagar truly stands for—connection, contribution, and continuity. May our beloved alma mater, nestled in the serene valley of Kashmir, continue to shine brighter, nurturing generations who will spread knowledge, compassion, and excellence across the world.
  3. Another Delegate’s Note of Appreciation: Heartiest congratulations to Prof. (Dr.) M. A. Shah for the grand success and graceful conclusion of SANGAM 2025. The event beautifully reflected his vision, energy, and leadership—uniting alumni from across the country and bridging the glorious past with the promising present of NIT Srinagar. Despite logistical challenges, he ensured that students were free to focus on their examinations—a gesture that revealed his compassion and mentorship. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his outstanding leadership and inspiring example. Er Sridhar would like to extend my profound thanks to Professor Dr. Shah for impeccably organizing the Sangam 2025 alumni meet.
