Srinagar | : Police on Friday said that it has booked two habitual drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS Act).
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said identified the offenders as Umar Farooq Sheikh S/o Farooq Ahmad Sheikh R/o Seeloo Sopore and Abdul Hamid Mir S/o Abdul Rashid Mir R/o Janwara Sopore, Stating therein that both are repeat offenders with multiple NDPS cases against them and despite repeated preventive actions as they continued to indulge in the narcotics trade. Stating that the said accused have been lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu and District Jail, Poonch respectively Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and appealed people to remain vigilant, report drug-related activities, and join hands in the mission to build a drug-free society.
