Srinagar | : Police in Bandipora on Friday organized an educational visit for students from Elixer Garden School and SMS Islamia Model High School to the local police stations.
The initiative aimed to enhance students’ understanding of police operations and foster a positive relationship between law enforcement and the community. During the visit, students received a detailed overview of the police department’s functions, including crime prevention, investigation, and community outreach. A notable aspect of the experience was a role-playing exercise where a student assumed the role of Station House Officer (SHO), allowing them to grasp the responsibilities and challenges faced by police leaders. Other students participated in various policing roles, engaging in activities that illustrated different aspects of police work. The students were accompanied by station house officers who provided guidance and insights throughout the day. They gained practical experience in traffic management, market inspections, and police station operations, learning about traffic laws, public safety, and record-keeping procedures. This hands-on experience was designed to demystify police work and inspire students to consider careers in law enforcement, ultimately promoting trust and cooperation between the police and the community.
