Srinagar | : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered a huge consignment of narcotic substance from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that the Police Station Bijbehara received credible inputs from reliable sources regarding the illegal possession of narcotic substances by one Riyaz Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Khaliq Mir R/o Katriteng, Bijbehara and registered a case under FIR No. 182/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bijbehara besides initiating further investigations.
Stating that suring the course of investigation, a police team from Police Station Bijbehara alongwith concerned Magistrate conducted a raid at the residence of the accused, Police in its statement further said that during the search operation, a huge quantity of cannabis leaves mixed with seeds and covers, weighing approximately 25.200 kilograms, was recovered and seized from the house following which the accused Riyaz Ahmad Mir was arrested and taken into custody.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its commitment to continue its crackdown on drug peddlers and appealed people to come forward with any information related to drug trafficking or substance abuse in their areas.
