Srinagar | : Police on Saturday initiated a comprehensive cleanliness drive, known as Safai Abhiyan, led by Police Wing Heads and supervised by Unit Heads across various jurisdictions.
The campaign aims to restore and maintain cleanliness and hygiene within police establishments and their surrounding neighborhoods. J&K Police personnel are actively involved in clearing debris, removing waste, and ensuring proper sanitation and waste disposal. Key highlights of the initiative include the removal of flood and landslide debris in vulnerable areas, systematic sanitation efforts, and waste disposal practices. Additionally, sensitization sessions are being conducted to educate personnel on hygiene best practices. The drive also promotes ecological restoration through tree plantation initiatives and encourages local youth participation to enhance community involvement and environmental awareness. Various battalions, including the JKAP 8th and IRP 24th, have organized specific cleanliness and plantation drives at their respective locations. The initiative has seen participation from local residents, shopkeepers, and youth, who have expressed appreciation for the police’s efforts in fostering civic responsibility and environmental consciousness. Police reiterated its commitment to environmental responsibility and community welfare is evident through these initiatives, highlighting their role in promoting cleaner and sustainable practices.
