Srinagar | : Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings were on Thursday held in Handwara and Awantipora to engage local citizens in discussions about community safety and crime prevention.
In Awantipora, the meeting took place at Pampore, chaired by SDPO RP Singh and attended by local residents. Similarly, in Handwara, the meeting was organized at Forest Hut, Hangnikot, led by SHO PS Vilgam, also with community participation. The primary focus of these meetings was to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the legal repercussions of forest-related crimes. Participants were encouraged to avoid unlawful activities and to report any suspicious behavior to the police, facilitating timely intervention. Community members voiced various public concerns during the discussions, and the chairing officers committed to addressing these grievances promptly, assuring attendees of their support. Additionally, the officers urged participants to guide the youth in their communities to steer clear of drugs and to monitor drug-related activities. They emphasized the dedication of police to maintain peace and public safety, highlighting the importance of collaboration with the community to combat crime and drug abuse effectively.
