DC Rajouri reviews progress of RDD sector works; restoration of damaged roads, Calls for speedy execution of targets

Rajouri : Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma Saturday chaired a detailed review meeting of the Rural Development Department (RDD) to take stock of the implementation of schemes and developmental works in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner assessed block-wise progress on Persondays (PDs) generation under MGNREGA, which stands at 1,33,256. Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace, he asked officers to accelerate efforts and provide explanations for the delays. He also reviewed block-wise performance regarding asset geotagging, which has reached 87 percent, along with Aadhaar seeding of beneficiaries.
Underscoring the importance of timely wage payments under MGNREGA, the DC directed officers to ensure that beneficiaries receive their dues without delay. Progress under the supplementary plan of MGNREGA, as well as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Awas Plus, was also reviewed. It was informed that out of a target of 62,195 houses, 59,121 have been completed. The DC urged the department to complete the balance units within the fixed timelines. He also assessed the status of PMAY-U houses and asked for their early completion.
Calling for a people-centric approach, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on renewed dedication, accountability, and time-bound delivery of services to meet public expectations. He said that bottlenecks must be addressed promptly to ensure smooth execution of rural development initiatives.
The DC also took a review of temporary as well as permanent restoration of roads damaged during the recent rains. He instructed the concerned departments to clear drains, carry out immediate repair works, and adopt preventive measures to mitigate further damage.
The meeting was attended by CPO Rajouri, Maqsood Ahmed; ACR, Mohd Jhangir Khan; ACD, AuqilNuvaid; SE PWD (R&B), Devi Dayal; EO MC Rajouri, Yousif Ul Mir. ADC Kalakote, Mohd Tanvir; ADC Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thapa; ADC Koteranka, Dil Mir and SDM Thanamandi, Abid Hussain also participated, with some joining through virtual mode.
