Srinagar: Dozens of students from the Royal Institute of Paramedicals and Sciences, Ganderbal, on Tuesday staged a protest against the institute’s failure to secure affiliation with the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The students accused the management of administrative negligence, saying the prolonged delay has put their education and career prospects at serious risk.
Gathering outside the institute campus, the students raised slogans demanding action. They expressed frustration over repeated assurances from the management that remained unfulfilled. “This is nothing less than playing with our careers,” one of the protesting students said.
Students pointed out that an INC inspection team had visited the institute in 2023 and identified gaps in faculty strength and infrastructure. “Nearly two years have passed and no improvements have been made. Our seniors are about to graduate without proper registration. What future do we have with such incomplete qualifications?” another student questioned.
The institute offers courses such as FMPHW, GNM, B.Sc Nursing, and B.Sc MLT. However, without INC affiliation, students fear that their degrees may not be recognised, jeopardising employment opportunities and professional certification.
Despite repeated assurances from the management, the students remain unconvinced and have warned that they will escalate the protest if the issues are not resolved immediately. “Our patience is running out. We cannot allow our years of hard work to go to waste,” the protesters stated, urging authorities to step in and ensure proper affiliation.
