Srinagar : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar celebrated Hindi Diwas marking the day in 1949 when Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Indian government.
The event is part of a 15-day Hindi Pakhwada organized by the Rajbhasha Cell, featuring various activities until September 28. Distinguished guests, including faculty and administrative staff, attended the celebration, emphasizing the importance of Hindi in fostering national unity and cultural diversity. Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia highlighted the institute’s commitment to promoting Hindi in administrative and academic settings, stating that the language reflects respect for diversity while strengthening national identity. Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman echoed this sentiment, noting that language serves as a connector among people and that initiatives supporting Hindi enhance linguistic heritage and pride among younger generations.
Prof. Noor Salam Khan delivered a keynote address on the significance of Rajbhasha, asserting that Hindi plays a crucial role in bridging cultural and regional differences. He emphasized that promoting Hindi does not undermine other Indian languages but rather fosters inclusivity. Assistant Registrar Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Dar discussed the Rajbhasha Cell’s efforts in organizing programs to improve Hindi proficiency among staff.
Dr. R.P. Shukla, the Incharge Hindi Officer, expressed gratitude to all participants and coordinators for their contributions to the event’s success. He announced that the Rajbhasha Cell will continue its initiatives to promote Hindi in official work and enhance appreciation for the language. Dr. Sabzar Gani Batoo stressed the need for professional translation services to improve accessibility to official documents. The program concluded with a collective pledge from participants to promote Hindi in their daily work, reinforcing its cultural and administrative significance. Hindi Diwas serves as an annual reminder of the language’s role in national integration and its promotion across government institutions
