Awantipora: A workshop on Embedded Systems and the Internet of Things (IoT) was organized by the AICTE-IDEA Lab in collaboration with the CIED-IUST Foundation at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST).
The event emphasized the increasing significance of embedded systems and IoT in modern industry, research, and entrepreneurial ventures. During the inaugural session, Dr. Sajaad Ahmad Lone, Coordinator of the AICTE-IDEA Lab, highlighted the essential role of innovation and technology-driven prototyping. He encouraged students to develop hands-on skills in these areas, which are vital for creating future-ready technological solutions. Prof. Parvez A. Mir, CEO of the CIED-IUST Foundation, further engaged participants by discussing IUST’s vision of merging entrepreneurship with technical education, aiming to transform students into technology-driven problem solvers rather than mere job seekers. The technical session led by Mr. Zahid Bashir provided students with insights into contemporary applications of embedded systems and IoT through an interactive presentation and practical training. This experience allowed students to gain exposure to advanced tools and equipment, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry practices. Additionally, participants toured IUST’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the C4i4 Lab, AICTE-IDEA Lab, and other DST-supported labs, showcasing the university’s dedication to fostering research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in emerging technologies. The workshop concluded with an interactive session aimed at motivating students to engage in innovation, prototyping, and entrepreneurship within the fields of embedded systems and IoT.
