Srinagar : Police in Handwara conducted an awareness-cum-interactive program on New Criminal Laws at Government High School Shartgund Bala, engaging students, teachers, and local residents.
The initiative was aimed to educate participants about the key features of the newly enacted criminal laws, highlighting therein their victim-centric, technology-driven nature and focus on expediting justice delivery. Resource persons from the police outlined significant changes in the laws, including enhanced provisions for the safety of women and children, stringent measures against organized crime, terrorism, and cyber offenses. They also highlighted the importance of forensic-based investigations, time-bound trials, and increased transparency within the justice system. The program encouraged the audience to remain vigilant against issues such as drug abuse and cyber fraud, urging them to collaborate with law enforcement to maintain peace and harmony in the community. Participants actively engaged by raising questions, which were thoroughly addressed by the police officers.
