Srinagar : Police in close coordination with the Geology & Mining Department on Wednesday seized six vehicles for illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Ganderbal and Awantipora.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that in Ganderbal, 3 vehicles (tippers) bearing registration numbers JK09-2680, JK03B-8854 and JK03B-4155 loaded with minerals illegally extracted from Nallah Sindh were seized in collaboration with the Geology & Mining Department seized.
Stating that in Awantipora also a Police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO Police Station Khrew seized two tippers in Khrew, bearing registration JK02AT-5249, JK01L-9017 and one JCB without registration number for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals Police in its statement further said that cases were registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations besides which further investigations are underway.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to extend their cooperation by sharing any information regarding such unlawful activities in their areas and reassured complete confidentiality of the informants besides reiterating its resolve to take strict legal action against those indulging in illegal mining.
