“India must prepare for conventional warfare, China, Pakistan pose biggest national security challenges to India, NSA Doval Had A Pivotal Role In Op Sindoor”
New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan on Friday emphasized the necessity for India to be prepared for conventional warfare, highlighting the operational freedom granted to the armed forces for ‘Operation Sindoor.’ This operation aims to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack and establish a definitive stance against cross-border terrorism.
Addressing a function in Gorakhpur (UP), General Chauhan identified the unresolved boundary dispute with China as the foremost national security challenge, followed by Pakistan’s ongoing proxy war. Gen Chauhan elaborated on the multifaceted security landscape, noting that regional instability and its repercussions on India represent significant challenges. He pointed out that the evolving nature of warfare, which now encompasses space, cyber, and electromagnetic domains, necessitates advanced preparations and technological adaptations. Additionally, he acknowledged the nuclear capabilities of both adversaries as a critical factor in determining the nature of future conventional conflicts. The Chief of Defence Staff also credited National Security Advisor Ajit Doval for his pivotal role in the planning and execution of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which included strategic guidance on target selection, troop deployment, and diplomatic frameworks for de-escalation. He articulated that Pakistan’s strategy aims to inflict gradual harm on India, a tactic that underscores the importance of vigilance and readiness in the face of persistent threats. Overall, Gen Chauhan’s remarks underscore the complex and evolving security challenges that India faces, necessitating a comprehensive and adaptive military strategy.
