Srinagar : In response to severe flooding in Awantipora Police on Wednesday took immediate action to assist affected residents. As floodwaters encroached upon residential areas, causing panic and disruption, police teams were deployed to provide essential support, including the evacuation of vulnerable individuals and the protection of property.
The rescue operations focused on families living in flood-prone areas along the banks of the River Jhelum, particularly nomadic families near Village Panzgam, who faced significant threats from waterlogging and potential flash floods. Police navigated submerged paths to evacuate families, prioritizing the elderly, women, and children, and transported them to designated safe zones. Senior officers from the Police District Awantipora actively supervised the relief efforts, ensuring that residents received comprehensive support during this challenging period. The J&K Police also urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid waterlogged areas, and adhere to safety guidelines to mitigate risks associated with the flooding.
