Srinagar : The University of Kashmir (KU) on Saturday hosted the 22nd National Conference on Surfactants, Emulsions and Biocolloids (NATCOSEB-XXII), which gathered prominent scientists, researchers, and scholars for a three-day event focused on the latest innovations in the field.
Organized by KU’s Department of Chemistry in collaboration with the Indian Society for Surface Science and Technology (ISSST) and Jadavpur University, the conference facilitated extensive discussions on advancements in surfactants, emulsions, and biocolloids, aiming to foster collaborations that address scientific, industrial, environmental, and healthcare challenges. During the inaugural session, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized the significance of the conference as a milestone for the university, linking research in surfactants and biocolloids to innovations in various sectors. Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada highlighted the conference’s role in advancing scientific knowledge and promoting regional collaborations, particularly in environmental sustainability. Prof. B.K. Mishra, President of ISSST, praised KU’s commitment to surface science, while Prof. Kallol Kumar Ghosh from Jadavpur University underscored the importance of such events in strengthening scientific connections and nurturing young talent. The conference featured 11 themed scientific sessions, including plenary lectures, invited talks, oral presentations, and poster sessions by emerging researchers. Notable highlights included memorial lectures by distinguished speakers such as Prof. S. K. Mehta, Prof. Santanu Bhattacharya, and Dr. M. Nandi. The event received sponsorship from various organizations, including the University of Kashmir, J&K Bank, JKSTIC, and DST, showcasing a collaborative effort to advance research in this vital area.
