Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kupwara and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team of Police Station Kupwara at a routine checkpoint established at Salkoot Kupwara apprehended a suspect identified as Jahangir Ahmad Khan S/o Mohd Yaseen Khan R/o Gutlipora Haihama and during search recovered a substantial amount of heroin & charas like substance from his possession.
Stating that Preliminary enquiry revealed the involvement of the said accused in illicit drug trafficking Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 275/2025 under Sections 8/20, 21 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kupwara besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
