Srinagar | : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Chadoora Budgam area and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday police said that during naka checking at Nowbugh village, a police party from police Station Chadoora intercepted a suspect while carrying a polythene bag and was identified as Hilal Ahmed Dar S/o Ab Rashid Dar R/o Nowbugh, Chadoora. Stating that the said accused tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully and during search, 2.92 kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession Police its statement further said that the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that a case under FIR No. 155/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Chadoora besides initiating further investigation which are currently in progress.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society and appealed people to share any information regarding drug trafficking.
