Srinagar | : Police on Tuesday arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said a police party from Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Galwanpora Crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Muzamil Ahmad Khan S/o Mohammad Ayoub Khan R/o Bathaar and during search, recovered contraband from his possession.
Stating that in Kupwara also during patrolling at Batergam near Radio Station a Police team from Police Station Kupwara intercepted a vehicle (Hyundai i10 Sports) bearing registration number JK15A-6188 with two suspected on board who were identified as Afaq Mohiuddin Bhat S/o Gh Mohiuddin Bhat R/o Aloosa Bandipore and Muneeba Begum W/o Mehrajudin Bhat R/o Aloosa Bandipore , Police in its statement further said that during search heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused following which cases under relevant provisions of law were registered at respective police stations .
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that while the investigations initiated are current underway, the drive against the menace of drugs shall continue with the active cooperation of the people. and appeals to the general public for cooperation.
