Srinagar | : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Police said that in Awantipora, a police team from the Tral Police Station, led by the Station House Officer, apprehended a suspect identified as Mohd Amin Dar at a checkpoint. Stating that during a search, officers recovered 2.5 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the said accused who was subsequently arrested Police in its statement further said that a case was registered under FIR Nor 107/2025, besides initiating an investigation which is currently underway. Police in its statement further said that in a separate action in Baramulla, a police party from the Mirgund Police Post intercepted a motorcycle ridden by one Umer Ayoub Danposh at a checkpoint on Ring Road NHW, adding therein that during search 85 grams of a charas-like substance, concealed in maize corn husk was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was subsequently arrested besides which a motorcycle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Stating that a case d under FIR No. 170/2025 was registered besides initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to combat crime , appealing therein people to report suspicious activities by contacting local police or dialing 112.
