Ganderbal | : The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) celebrated the 79th Independence Day with two significant events: a Tiranga Rally and an Anti-Drug Awareness Rally at the Tulmulla campus. The Tiranga Rally, organized by the Dean Students Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), saw a large turnout of faculty, administrative staff, and students who marched while waving the Indian tricolor. This event aimed to promote patriotism and national pride, encouraging citizens to display the Indian flag at their homes and institutions, thereby reinforcing the collective responsibility towards nation-building. In conjunction with this, the Anti-Drug Awareness Rally, themed “Azadi from Drugs,” was also organized by the DSW, Health Centre, and NSS units. This walkathon commenced from the Tulmulla campus and featured enthusiastic participation from the university community, who carried banners and placards to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The rally highlighted the urgent need to combat this issue for the sake of a healthier nation and received support from the J&K Police in Ganderbal. Additionally, the DSW conducted a plantation drive at the science campus in Nuner, led by prominent faculty members including Prof. Abid Hamid Dar and Prof. Mohammad Yousuf. Participants engaged in planting saplings, emphasizing the importance of sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and fostering a healthier future.
