Ganderbal | : The Dean Students Welfare (DSW) at the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organized a “Youth Parliament” focused on the theme “One Nation, One Election,” alongside online lectures over the weekend.

Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean of Academic Affairs, emphasized the importance of such programs in allowing students to showcase their skills and urged them to actively participate in the democratic process, highlighting the role of educated youth in shaping contemporary Indian politics. Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean of the School of Legal Studies, described the event as integral to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes a multidisciplinary approach to education that includes co-curricular activities essential for holistic student development. He stressed that true leadership is defined by purpose rather than position, advocating for the welfare of society and upholding democratic values. During the Youth Parliament, participants engaged in role-playing as ruling and opposition party members, discussing various perspectives on the theme. The event also recognized outstanding participants, with Ms. Tulba, Ms. Hurmat Mohammad, and Ahmad Mujtaba earning the top three positions. The online lectures addressed critical topics such as “Higher Education: Youth & Society” and “NextGen Intelligence: Youth Leading the AI Revolution.” Dr. Firdous Ahmad Sofal highlighted the youth’s role in nation-building, drawing on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings about character development and ethical values. He also discussed the “Earn While Learn” scheme aimed at fostering financial independence among students. Dr. Yash Paul focused on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India, discussing initiatives like India’s AI Mission and the development of semiconductor infrastructure. He underscored the importance of cultivating AI talent and recognized CUKashmir’s contributions to advancing AI education. Dr. Adil Amin Nazki noted that the VBYCP initiative aims to enhance youth participation and leadership in line with India’s developmental goals.
