Jammu: The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by killing two terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) during a coordinated operation named ‘Operation Shivshakti’ in the Poonch sector.
The operation, executed by the White Knight Corps, was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists near the Line of Control. The operation commenced in the early hours of July 30, following a strategic plan that involved coordinated ambushes on identified infiltration routes. A fierce gunfight ensued, resulting in the neutralization of the terrorists and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and supplies, including assault rifles, a pistol, hand grenades, improvised explosive devices, and communication equipment. This substantial recovery indicated that the terrorists were well-prepared for a prolonged engagement. The swift and decisive actions of the security forces not only neutralized the threat but also ensured the safety of the local population, preventing any collateral damage. Ongoing search operations are being conducted in the surrounding areas to confirm the absence of additional terrorists. This operation follows closely on the heels of ‘Operation Mahadev,’ conducted on July 27, which targeted terrorists involved in a previous attack in Pahalgam. The Indian Army’s commitment to safeguarding the region from terrorism was reiterated through their actions in these operations, highlighting their resolve to counter infiltration attempts effectively.
