KU youth power shines again, Varsity`s Youth Parliament team secures spot among Top 8 National finalists

Srinagar | : The University of Kashmir’s Youth Parliament Team has achieved a significant milestone by winning the group-level competition of the 17th National Youth Parliament, organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India. This victory qualifies the team for the final round of the National-Level Youth Parliament, highlighting a proud moment for both the University and the region.

The competition aimed to promote democratic values, leadership, and parliamentary knowledge among students, attracting enthusiastic participation from various leading institutions across the country. The KU team distinguished itself through a powerful presentation, clarity of thought, and spirited debate, showcasing the University’s commitment to nurturing talent and youth leadership. Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan praised the team’s achievement as a reflection of the intellectual potential and disciplined energy of the youth, commending both the team and their mentor for bringing recognition to the University. He emphasized the Youth Parliament as a vibrant platform for cultivating leadership and civic awareness. Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal noted that the success of the KU team at this national level underscores the confidence and preparation of the students, as well as the supportive ecosystem being developed through academic and extracurricular excellence. Dean of Students Welfare, Prof. Pervez Ahmed, remarked that this milestone is a testament to the University’s ongoing efforts to empower students to become responsible and articulate citizens. Dr. Shahid Ali Khan, the Cultural Officer and mentor of the KU Youth Parliament Team, shared insights on the training methods employed, which are inspired by premier institutions. He highlighted that the rigorous training not only enhanced the students’ oratory skills but also deepened their understanding of democratic values and public dialogue. This year, 51 teams from leading universities participated in the group-level competitions, with only eight teams qualifying for the final round, underscoring the competitive nature of the event.
