Srinagar:  Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari, Tuesday inaugurated a Digital X-Ray plant at Imam Hussain hospital in Bemina locality here.

The Minister said the installation of the new X-Ray plant is the beginning of a good change at the hospital which has been providing free healthcare service to the poor and marginalized sections of the society for several years now.

“We will try to get a CT Scan machine installed at the hospital very soon. Besides, the operation theatre will be refurbished with the latest gadgetry and the Out-Patient Department will be developed on modern lines as well in coming days,” the Minister said.

Later, the Minister, who is also chairman of the trust which manages the hospital, spoke with hundreds of people who had gathered there, including the staff, and assured them that the hospital will be providing best healthcare facilities in coming days.

“This hospital is our nation’s treasure. You should take care of it. The problems faced due to mismanagement and lack of staff will be addressed soon. I have also directed the management to increase the salary of some staff,” Ansari said.

Recalling the contribution of his late father, Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, towards the development of the hospital, the Minister said he was a visionary leader who lived his life following the ideals of Imam Hussain (AS).

“Civilized and charactered people help build institutions. My father eulogised the life of Imam Hussain (AS) and his first priority was the welfare of the poor and the marginalized of our society. This hospital is a symbol of his commitment towards them,” he said.

The Minister also  four new dialysis machines will be procured by the hospital to cater to the growing demand for such machines by patients with grave kidney diseases.
