Srinagar |: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora & Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Awantipora, a police team of Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SHO Police Station Awantipora DySP (P) Atif Zahoor at a checkpoint established at Charligund area intercepted a suspect identified as Faizan Farooq Allie S/o Farooq Ahmad Allie R/o Kadlabal Noorpora and during search recovered 4.40 grams of brown sugar like substance from his possession. Police in its statement further said that the accused has been arrested and a case under FIR No 152/2025 under relevant section of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigation into the case.

Stating that in a similar action in Baramulla also, a police team of Police Station Sheeri headed by SHO Police Station Sheeri, at a checkpoint established at STC Sheeri intercepted a lady identified as Rozia Begum W/o Shabir Ahmad Sheikh R/o Fatehgarh and during checking recoverd 153 grams of a charas-like contraband substance from the said lady Police in its statement further said that  a case under FIR No. 38/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sheeri besides initiating further investigation. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112, appealing therein people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
