Srinagar : On Thursday, police announced the arrest of two drug peddlers in Budgam and Kupwara districts, along with the recovery of contraband substances and cash.
In Budgam, a police team from Police Post Soibugh intercepted a suspect, Bilal Ahmed Hajam, who was found carrying 6.323 kilograms of a poppy straw-like substance. In a separate operation in Kupwara, police arrested Umer Aziz Payer at a checkpoint, where a significant amount of a heroin-like substance was discovered. Following his arrest, police conducted searches at the residence and shop of another suspect, Munzoor Ahmad Mir, leading to the recovery of additional narcotics and cash totaling Rs 4,93,100. The police have registered cases under relevant laws and are continuing their investigations. They reiterated their commitment to combat drug trafficking and encouraged the public to provide information regarding drug-related activities.
