Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Tarzoo during a routine naka checking at Parray Mohalla Haigam, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK11B-0112 driven by one Mohammad Maqbool Bhat S/o Abdul Kabeer Bhat R/o Hashmatpora Hathlangoo, adding therein that during search of the vehicle, poppy straw-like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and a case under FIR No.88/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tarzoo besides initiating further investigation and seizing the said vehicle used in the commission of crime.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
