Srinagar: Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K This week:-
- LG Sinha Inaugurates Nutraj Processing Plant, Lays Foundation of Polyfilm Unit: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Nutraj’s state-of-the-art flagship nuts and dry fruit processing plant at Samba. The cutting-edge industrial unit is expected to significantly boost J&K’s economic growth and act as a catalyst for progress in Samba and surrounding areas. LG Sinha also laid the foundation stone for Dhunseri Polyfilm Limited’s industrial unit in Dohlian Jattan village of Kathua.
- CM Omar Meets DG BRO; LG Sinha Launches Surveillance & Social Welfare Initiatives: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Lt. Gen Raghu Srinivasan, PVSM, VSM, Director General of Border Roads, in Srinagar to discuss BRO projects in Jammu & Kashmir. The CM lauded the BRO’s vital role in strengthening border infrastructure in challenging terrains. Meanwhile, LG Manoj Sinha inaugurated the CCTV Surveillance System with Integrated Command and Control Centre at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The high-tech system aims to enhance real-time monitoring and crowd management for a safer pilgrimage experience. Earlier in the day, the LG also launched a mass distribution drive of aids and appliances for Divyangjan in Jammu, under RVY and ADIP schemes to empower people with disabilities and senior citizens.
- LG Continues Divyangjan Empowerment Drive in Jammu: Continuing the welfare push, LG Sinha led another mass distribution drive of aids and appliances for Divyangjan in Jammu under centrally sponsored schemes. The initiative aims to improve mobility, accessibility, and quality of life for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
- PMGSY-IV Boost; 316 Road Projects Sanctioned for J&K: LG Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for sanctioning 316 road projects worth ₹4,224 crore under PMGSY-IV. The infrastructure initiative will connect 390 eligible habitations, accelerating rural connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir. The LG also conducted an on-site inspection of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board’s disaster management and Yatri Niwas complex at Baltal, Ganderbal, and interacted with the BRO personnel maintaining the Yatra track. He performed the ‘Pratham Puja’ at the Holy Cave, marking the ceremonial start of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with delegates from the Travel Agents Association of India in Srinagar. He praised their role in promoting J&K tourism and pledged full support for enhancing tourism infrastructure and ease of doing business.
- CM Reviews PDD, Urban Affairs, Development Plans: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, chaired review meetings of the Power Development Department (PDD) and Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD). The focus remained on expediting reforms, enhancing service delivery, and pushing key projects forward. Later, the CM reviewed capital expenditure work plans under the Estates, Revenue, Tourism, and Culture departments. He directed officials to ensure timely execution for tangible on-ground impact.
- CM Seeks MEA’s Help for Kashmiri Students In Iran: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs to take urgent steps to ensure the safety and well-being of Kashmiri students reportedly stuck in Iran. Expressing solidarity with concerned families, he stressed the need for swift diplomatic intervention.
- LG Chairs Amarnath Yatra Security Review; CM Continues Public Outreach: LG Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level security review meeting for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The review involved top security officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for pilgrims. On the same day, CM Omar Abdullah met with multiple public delegations at the Raabita office as part of his ongoing public outreach campaign, engaging with citizens to hear and address their concerns directly.
