Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam & Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team from Police Station Chadoora, at a checkpoint established at Wadipora crossing, apprehended a suspects identified as Ghulam Rasool Sheikh S/o Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh R/o Wadipora, Chadoora . Police in its statement further said that during search, approximately 16.05 kg of wet green poppy straw-like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested besides which a case under FIR No. 104/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Chadoora, Stating therein further that investigation wasalso taken up.
Stating that a police team from Police Station Beerwah, at a checkpoint established at Churmujroo village intercepted a suspect carrying a nylon bag and identified him as Sarwar Ahmad Tantray S/o Abdul Majeed Tantray R/o Churmujroo, Police in its statement further said that during search, approximately 5.66 kg of grinded poppy straw like-substance and a mobile phone was recovered from the possession of the said accused besides which a case FIR No. 81/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Beerwah, and subsequently investigation was also initiated.
Police in its statement further said aid that in Anantnag, a police party from Police Station Achabal at a checkpoint established at Sharief Din Mohalla near Police Station Achabal intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03F-5011 driven by Bilal Ahmad Mir S/o Ab Rashid Mir R/o Rain Arther larnoo , adding therein that during search of the vehicle, police party recovered about 8 grams of brown sugar like- substance following which the said accused was arrested and a vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Stating that a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Achabal Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its commitment to protect people from the scourge of drugs and appleade them to extend their cooperation by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or abuse.
