Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrests 4 drug peddlers in two separate operations in Anantnag district and also recovered substantial quantity of narcotic substances.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established at Gund Baba Khalil, intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration no JK13A-5700 with two persons on board identified as Mohd Ayoub Kumar S/o Habibullah Kumar, and Javid Ahmad Kumar S/o Gh Hassan Kumar, both residents of Waghama and during search of the vehicle, approximately 21 kilograms of raw narcotic material, including cannabis seeds were recovered. Police in its statement further said that both the said accused were arrested and vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Police in its statement also said that in a similar action a police party from Police Station Bijbehara intercepted a motorcycle at Zirpara near GDC Bijbehara ridden by two suspects identified as Sahil Ahmad Khanday S/o Abdul Hameed Khanday R/o Zirpara, and Amir Sohail S/o Mohd Ashraf Teli R/o Karewa Colony, Bijbehara.
Stating that a case under the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is going on Police In the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
