Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the Police district Awantipora and has seized 3 vehicles and arrested 4 persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said a police party of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora DySP (P) Atif Zahoor under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora seized 3 tippers bearing registration nos JK03D-0473, JK03B-9010 & JK03B- 4872 . Stating that the three accused identified as Ab Hamid Dar, Fayaz ahmad Dar and Gh. Mohi Uddin Dar all residents of Aghanjipora and Fayaz Ahmad Shairgojri R/o Padgampora were also arrested for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 118/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigations. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police said reiterated its commitment to take action against violators who are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally to the detriment of people health, the ecology and the revenue of the government, appealed people therein to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
