Srinagar : Police on Thursday arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Lavdoora crossing intercepted a vehicle (Alto Car) bearing registration no JK14J-1218 with two suspects on on board identified as Farook Ahmad Bocken S/o Mohd Yousuf Bocken R/o Pinger Ramnagar Udhampur and Tanveer Hussain S/o Manzoor Ahmad Bocken R/o RITI kooh Nala Udhampur. Stating that during search of the vehicle 14.7Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the two bags were recovered Police in its statement further said that both the said accused were arrested on spot and vehicle used in commission of crime was seized.
Police in its statement further said that a police party led by Police Post Jawahar Tunnel during checking of vehicles, intercepted a car (Alto) bearing registration no JK14L-2294 with two suspects on board identified as Talib Hussain Bakarwal S/o Ghulam Hussain Bakarwal R/o Chenani Udhampur and Yasir Ali Bokad S/o Gafoor Ahmad Bokad R/o Ramnagar Udhampur . Stating that during search, 9 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested Police in its statement further said that vehicle used in commission of crime was seized and cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
