Srinagar : Police in Budgam under the supervision of SSP Budgam, Nikhil Borkar on Friday organized awareness programmes at Waterhail, Khansahib and Chadoora to educate the general public of the concerned areas about the new criminal laws (BNS, BNSS & BSA).
The main event was chaired by SDPO Khansahib Mohammad Anzar Shah at Police Post Waterhail. The programme was attended by respectable citizens, community representatives, members of Traders federations, Awqaf committee members besides Police officials of the units were also present on the occasion. Also, awareness programme was organised at Khansahib wherein SI Aijaz Ahmad and SI Vissaht Kachroo familiarized general public about enactment of NCLs, ensuring awareness and compliance with the updated legal framework.
Similarly, at Chadoora the event was chaired by PSI Suhail Ahmad at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Chadoora. The programme was attended by teaching staff and students of the institution.
Police officers on these occasions explained key aspects of New Criminal Laws, highlighting the replacement of IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act with new criminal laws. The participants also got familiarized that new criminal laws are victim centric and aim to ensure speedy Justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders. They also shed light on the provision for registering Zero FIRs and e-FIRs.
