Srinagar: In a significant initiative to strengthen community policing and foster better public-police relations, Police in Handwara, under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhury, successfully organised Thana Diwas/Lok Darbar across the police district on Thursday.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar the event was held at the Qalamabad Police Station and other designated locations across the district, with the aim of addressing public grievances, enhancing transparency, and promoting trust between the police and the community. SSP Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhury, personally addressed the gathering at the Qalamabad Police Station, emphasizing the importance of community participation in maintaining law and order.
During the Lok Darbar, citizens were given the opportunity to voice their concerns, report grievances, and seek redressal for issues related to policing and public safety. The SSP assured the public of prompt and fair action on all genuine complaints, reiterating the commitment of the Handwara Police to serve the community with integrity and dedication.
Other senior police officers, including SDPO Handwara, DySP DAR, Station House Officers (SHOs), DOs and Investigating Officers (IOs), were present at various locations across the district to interact with the public and address their concerns. The event witnessed a significant turnout, with citizens appreciating the initiative and expressing their satisfaction with the responsive approach of the police.
SSP Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhury, stated, Thana Diwas/Lok Darbar is a platform for us to connect directly with the people we serve. It is our duty to ensure that every citizen feels heard and that their grievances are addressed promptly. We are committed to building a safer and more secure environment for all.
The successful organisation of Thana Diwas/Lok Darbar reflects the Police’s dedication to community-oriented policing and its efforts to bridge the gap between the police and the public. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants and a reaffirmation of the police’s commitment to serving the community.
