2 more Hurriyat groups severe ties with separatism; “Great news”, says Amit Shah

New Delhi, Srinagar: Two more groups affiliated with the Hurriyat in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday severed their ties with separatism, with Union Home minister Amit Shah terming it a “great news”.
Home Minister Amit Shah welcomed the decision of two more groups affiliated with the Hurriyat, namely J&K Tehreeq-i-Isteqlal and J&K Tehreek-i-Istiqamat, to discard their ties with separatism.
He said that the groups have reposed their trust in the new Bharat built by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Under the Modi government, separatism is breathing its last, and the triumph of unity is echoing across Kashmir,” he said.
J&K Tehreeq-i-Isteqlal was headed by Gulam Nabi Sofi, while J&K Tehreek-i-Istiqaamat was led by Ghulam Nabi War, associated with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
This development comes days after two other organisations affiliated with the Hurriyat severed their ties with separatism in Kashmir.
On Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) and the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (JKDPM) announced severing of all ties with separatism.
The similar announcement was made by Home minister Amit Shah in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
Welcoming the decision, Shah said that this is a step towards strengthening Bharat’s unity. He urged all such groups to come forward and shed separatism once and for all
