Srinagar: One of the three men, who went missing under mysterious circumstances nearly a month ago, has been found dead, officials said on Thursday.
His body was recovered from Veshow Nallah in the Mah area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, the officials said.
An official said that locals discovered the body near the Nallah and immediately alerted the police. The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The deceased has been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Bajad (25), a resident of Chandian Pajan in Devsar. He was among three men, who went missing on February 13, and a missing report had been filed at Qazigund police station.
The trio had left their homes to attend a wedding at a relative’s house in Ashmuji, Kulgam. Before they could reach their destination, they went missing, and their phones have been switched off since.
They originally hail from Chita Danda Panglar in Rajouri district and have been working as labourers in the area for the past six years.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death, while the search for the other two missing persons is underway.
“A massive search operation has been launched in Veshow Nallah with the assistance of the SDRF team to trace the other two missing nomads,” an official said
