4 drug peddlers arrested in B’la, B’gam, Contraband Also Substances Recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Party of Police Station Kunzer, headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer apprehended a drug peddler identified as Habil Yaseen Dar S/o Mohd Yaseen Dar R/o Habakadal Srinagar A/P Tarhama Kunzerat a checkpoint established at Tarhama and during search, Heroin like substance, weighing about 10 grams were recovered from the possession of the said accused. Stating that a Police party of Police Station Palhallan at a checkpoint established at Yadipora crossing intercepted two suspects identified as Rayees Ahmad Tantray S/o Mohd Maqbool Tantray R/o YadiporaPalhallan and Danish Ahmad Dar S/o Bashir Ahmad Dar R/o Takiya and during search recovered contraband Charas like Powder weighing about 2.9 Kgs from their possession Police in its statement further said that both the accused were arrested.
Police in its statement further said that in Budgam also a Police party of Police Station Khansahib established a check point at village Chamboora, and arrested a drug peddler identified as Tanveer Ahmad Bhat S/o Abdul Rashid BhatR/o Arigam Budgam, Police in its statement further said that during search, 4 sticks of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused. Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations beside initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug abuse and trafficking in the region and appealed people to cooperate with it and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
