Kishtwar : In a continued effort to ensure transparency and quality in MGNREGA and Rural Development Department (RDD) works, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), conducted an inspection visit to Panchayat Sallana of Block Drabshalla on Wednesday.
The visit aimed to assess the progress, quality, and compliance of ongoing developmental works under MGNREGA and RDD schemes. The inspection follows the recent visit to Block Mughalmaidan, where two erring staff members were suspended for falsifying attendance under MGNREGA. Taking a firm stand against such malpractices, DC Kishtwar reiterated that any employee, including Mates, found engaging in false attendance will face strict disciplinary action, including suspension or termination.
At block Drabshalla, the DC Kishtwar personally reviewed the ongoing development works, scrutinized their quality, and assessed the overall adherence to guidelines. He emphasized that there should be no compromise in the execution of infrastructure projects, as they are crucial for the socio-economic upliftment of local communities.
During the inspection, the officer found dereliction on the part of Ayushi Sharma (VLW), Abdul Hamid (GRS) amd Ravinder Kumar (GRS) and ordered immediate suspension.
While interacting with field staff and officials, DC Kishtwar issued a stern directive to ensure that all attendance records under MGNREGA are authentic and accurately maintained. He stressed that accountability and transparency are paramount in public works and any deviation will invite immediate administrative action.
Accompanying the DC during the visit was Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kishtwar, Phulail Singh, who assured that regular monitoring mechanisms are being strengthened to uphold the integrity of MGNREGA and RDD projects in the district.
DC Kishtwar directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely execution of works and maintain a strict vigilance on work quality and execution timelines to prevent any lapses. He reiterated that the district administration remains committed to delivering efficient, corruption-free, and impactful rural development initiatives.
During the inspection, he met the public delegations and heard their grievances. He visited Bhadhat, Bugrana and Baroti Villages and went upto Kulchandna village, last habitation on the axis.
The visit underscores the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards irregularities and reinforces its dedication to ensuring that government schemes truly benefit the people of Kishtwar.
