This was stated by the Director Law Enforcement J&K, Susheel Sahni during a meeting convened to review the progress made in the implementation of the DBT in fertilizers, here Wednesday.
Director Law Enforcement enjoined upon all the participants including wholesalers, representatives of the fertilizer companies, Enforcement Inspectors, Chief Agriculture Officers of Jammu Division to sensitize all the retailers regarding the sale of fertilizers through Point Of Sale Machine (POS) from January 2018 onwards as per the instructions of Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers, New Delhi, Government of India.
Addressing the participants, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu said sale of Fertilizers has been now made mandatory through POS machines and the stakeholders found violating the instructions shall be dealt with stern action under rule to the extent of cancellation of the licence issued.
He further disclosed that the POS machines have been provided free of cost to the retailers through the sensitization/training programs organized in various districts of the State. The retailers who have not received such POS machines can approach to the nearest Agriculture Office or representative of the Fertilizer Companies. He added that farmers will have to bring Voter ID Cards or KCC at the time of purchase of fertilizers from the retailer so that the benefit of subsidy goes to the rightfull claimant.
The State Coordinator J&K, Department of Fertilizers Akhil Vaid gave a detailed presentation and also replied to various queries raised by the participants. He further elaborated that the sale of fertilizers shall not be allowed without the usage of POS machines and making the transactions on the real time basis to ensure transparency and to prevent pilferage of any kind.
