Police conducts extensive market checking drive during Ramadan in Ang

Srinagar : Police in Anantnag has initiated a comprehensive market checking drive across the district to ensure that consumers receive fair pricing, quality goods, and adherence to hygiene standards.
A team comprising Police officers, officials from the Food Safety Department, and the Revenue Department inspected various markets, including grocery stores, vegetable and fruit vendors, meat shops, and other essential commodity suppliers. The drive aimed to prevent hoarding, overpricing, and the sale of substandard or adulterated food items, ensuring that consumers receive quality goods during this sacred month.
During the inspection, shopkeepers were instructed to display rate lists and strictly adhere to government-approved pricing. They were also sensitized about maintaining cleanliness and ensuring quality control, especially for high-demand food items during Ramadan. Strict action has been warned against violators.
Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement to report any instances of overpricing, hoarding, or sale of substandard goods to the nearest Police station or relevant authorities, reiterating therein its commitment to ensure a fair and smooth market experience for people during this holy month.
